00000005 Warnings

We’ve got Avast server running here.
It keeps sending us emails like the following

[HQ-SVR-01]: AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: avfilesScanReal of D:\Projects\CustomerX\D - Working Directory~$C Customer v0 3 (2)Document.doc failed, 00000005.

I’ve done some searching of the forums, and from what I can tell it’s an access error of some
kind.

The most likely reason for this being that it’s a document which is currently open in
work from a client some where, which seems a reasonable thing to do ::slight_smile:

I’m wondering what we can do about this. We’re getting such frequent emails
that monitoring them is impossible.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, error 5 is access rights problem.

Is this correct, I mean, with ~ and $ symbols? Is this folder of an account with admin rights?

Sorry I can’t help that much as server version is not my expert field…

I’m guessing that it’s the temp file that word
creates when you open a document. I’ll check it out later.

Did you run chkdsk tool?
The $ symbol seems something related to Master File Table…

yup, the disks are fine.

I’ve just checked, it’s the standard files Word creates
when you open a word document.
They’re usually hidden, so you’d have to make sure all files
are visible in order to see them.

I’ve had it in the past where Word refuses to open a document
because someone else is rumoured to have it open, when in reality
that someone is me. Deleting the temp file allows word to open the document
again.

I’m guessing Avast can’t read the files because they’re in
use by the document owner…
