I keep receiving this error when i send and receive emails with microsoft outlook. I have just the the email address up on the computer and it just is not working. I followed some microsft supports with fixes etc but still not working. I deleted the email address and started again and still not working. I have seen from other google stuff it is the anti virus program issue and you may need to change some settings. Does anybody know how i can fix this issue? Thanks Nancy
Do you use avast? Which is your firewall?
Will this help?

Also, Googling 0x8004210a will give us a lot of hits…
That link basically just tells you to contact your anti-virus provider for a fix, but isn’t a fix itself.
Try sending and receiving mail after you pause the Outlook / Exchange provider in avast. If it still doesn’t work, there must be something else going on.
If it does work, post back here. Avast shouldn’t be blocking communication.
Do you have another firewall product on your computer? Like zone alarm or something like that?
Oh, are you connected to the internet with a wireless connection? You may have to mess with your MTU settings on your router if that’s the case.
Hi All, I have tried terminating and pausing different functions in avast and also not making avast scan incoming and outgoing mail but it isnt working. I dont have any other firewalls and avast is the only anti virus program on the computer. The computer itself is running on a network which is then connected wirelessly. Several other computers with avast on it in the same network and none of them seem to have a problem but this is the only one with service pack 3 from microsoft. Even though it doesnt mention anywhere it could be that, do anyone think that could be a problem? Thanks for your assistance guys.
I don’t think SP3 is any problem of the equation…
Maybe remains of other antivirus (that you have in the past) or even a firewall issue…
I have never had any other virus program on the computer and have tried turning avast off and pausing some sections and still not working. googled it again and only found virus issue but cant find avast instructions to help only norton etc which isnt useful. Please help if anyone can. Thanks
I just want you to know this worked for me. I also had a problem with the network password in Outlook 2003 kept popping up. It fixed everything. So here is the blessing I bestow upon you all :). Remember to follow very carefully. If you are not that confident with changing your registry, I advise backing it up so you can alway go back to the previous version. So here you go! Let me know if it work for you.
