"1 threat found", "Unknown error occurred"

AMS Virus Scanner says there’s “1 problem” (red icon, threat found!), but in Details it just says “Unknown error occurred”, something about a “journal” file, /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/lysesoft.andftp/cache/Thumbnails/journal
which by the way seems to belong with a legit app, andftp.

I chose “Ignore” once, but the same alert popped up again after some time, so I reported it as false positive.

AMS Premium latest version on Android 4.3.1

And the file is clean according to virustotal: 0/55

Hello,

we are currently investigating this problem. Could you please tell us what model of device are you using?

Do i understand correctly your version of AMS is 4.0.7884?

Hi Janek, I just got the same type of message on my Samsung Galaxy S4 using AMS version 4.0.7884. Virus definition version: 150624-01. configuration version: 221

The avast message reads:

journal (in red)
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/net.zedge.android/cache/lrucache/journal
Unknown error occurred

I also reported as false positive (report filed with my email address on file.)

I also have the same issue on Samsung S4 running avast 4.0.7884.

Received
1 threat found
Journal
/storage/emulated/0/A…r.android/cache/users

I’ve had similar problems over the past couple of days. Also using an S4 and version 4.0.7884. The Antivirus will detect “0 problems” and then update the notification to “1 problem”. The “Unknown Error” is not recorded as a detection in activity history either.

So far it’s detected the Facedata file in .face, and a random image in my my twitter cache within the android folder. I’ve deleted files both times as they weren’t critical/are recreated by the device (They were flagged as clean by other AVs I DLed to check) but I was a little concerned when the “1 Problem” and “Unknown Error” first occured.

I have yet to have it detect Journal though.

Edit: Just got another “Unknown Error” in my twitter cache.

Yes, AMS 4.0.7884 on a Nexus S with Android 4.3.1

Anyway, no new detection since I uninstalled AndFTP, as the detected file was recreated in its cache.

Thank you all for your information! We are making slight progress and maybe identified the issue. It seems it is not device specific. I will update you when we have some definite results.

I have the same problem with a Samsung S2, should I delete it or not ?

AMS found this error today on my Sony Z1 also.
I switched off the phone and started it again.
After searching with AMS the message not appears again.

Ok, the issue was identified and we prepared a fix. It should be out in the upcoming release so this error should not occur anymore! Thank you all for your information!

Janek
