100 days with Avast

Avast just popped up with this message. 100 days of us and you.

Cute. I’ve been using Avast probably for 20 years if not more. And the install on this PC is over a year old. This all ties in with Avast suddenly thinking I was a new user a while back. With the new user ‘tips’ and mouseover popups.

I can’t help but feel it is somehow another ploy to show offers for paid products, now that Avast had to back down a bit with the scary popups since limited mode is a thing.

At any rate it is not accurate and it’s annoying. Has anyone else seen this screen?

It happens on occasion and normally when there has been a UI Update.

Some time ago it was New - Welcome to Avast, see what’s new.

EDIT: Note I’m still running 24.10.9535a (build 24.10.9535.886)

I’m curious, my friend, why are you still running this version?

Since there is a newer one.

Hello, I think the same as you, AVAST is very aggressive with its advertisements, but it must be its way of communicating or even selling.

In my AVAST PREMIUM product, I don’t receive these advertisements very often, but I still receive some that I didn’t want to receive.

Well there have been two monthly updates since my version/build.

I have program updates set to Manual and I monitor what is being brought to the party with the new update notification. Often there is little or no information in the Release notifications in the forums, so I wait. I also monitor the forums to see if there are any adverse reports that might/could be related to the update.

But crucially if there isn’t anything that is something that I actually want/need, again I wait and monitor.

There is an option in the small print at the bottom of that screen “Don’t show again”, so it’s your choice.

That is what I clicked. The screen shouldn’t have been shown in the first place. The install is more than a year old. And surely another nonsense popup will be fabricated in the future. Ad infinitum.
