12,000 attacks!! ?? !!

Hello,

 

   I have installed BlackIce...shows me getting "probed" (is that the right word?) 12,000 times in one 24 hour period....is that normal??? 


   Is someone trying to get into my PC???

No you will get a lot of transient traffic on the web. ZA is currently counting 6000 attempts in 2 weeks but I’m not worried 'cos that’s what a firewall is for

Hey there casc, just remember that all those “attacks” are being blocked by your wonderful firewall, so you don’t have to worry. Take care! ;D

A long time ago when I used zone alarm these popups and log entries for probes kept bugging me so I switched off the popups and ignored the number of probes. I couldn’t care less how many attempts are made so long as none get through. So you need to ensure that the firewall you choose fully stealths your system this will greatly reduce the number but as I said it’s just figures.
