I installed the beta over the latest stable version.

There is a new topic related to the new Licensing channel, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=198923.0, so it could well be related to that.

EDIT: Known Issue:#5
5. In some cases you might end up with multiple Free licenses instead of just one

Thanks just posted a link back to this to find out if it’s related. Still on the road so not a a good time
to create and send the files requested.

No problem, when I first read that topic I thought this is going to cause some confusion.

Hi Bob,

thanks for the logs you sent to Jindra,
I went trough them and I think I have an idea, what happened in your case.
There are currently 2 active licenses on your machine:

  1. Free (one year) + SecureLine vpn (Trial for 7days, expired)
  2. Free (again one year) + SecureLine (paid license)

so I think that you had Free edition and tried SecureLine Trial. Then you reinstalled and again used Free edition package and manually inserted paid license for SecureLine vpn, am I right?

You are probably correct.
I clicked on the one marked as Activate. Once that was done, I now see the following:

So how do I get rid of the one with the least amount of time remaining ???

Hi Bob,

well, you don’t get rid of it.
Just let it expire

Jiri

It’s the free version of Avast. Why do I need 2 licenses on one system ???
This also only happens on my Lenovo.
The 2 Dell systems and the HP one never show this type of problem.

Hi Bob,

you don’t need 2 licenses, but if you reinstall the machine, like you did, you will get in your case 2 licenses.
Unfortunately user is not able to get rid of these licenses, they are registered on our backend with your pc. But they shouldn’t do you any harm:)

Jiri

Thanks for the information. So even a clean install wouldn’t change that.

well, there might be a away:

  1. uninstall current product
  2. install some trial edition (not the free one)
  3. insert your secureline paid license (with connected free license)

like this, you should end up with:
AV Trial active
AV Free available
SecureLine VPN paid active

but I am not 100% sure,
hope this helps:)

Regards,
Jiri

So I clicked on the word Available and that seems to have taken care of it.
Now I only show one Active subscription:
