Thanks I’ve tried both mallware and spybot and nothing so far.

When Standard Shield states last infected does that mean its still infected…or is it just a log? How will I know when the file has been successfully removed?

It’s a log. Depends on what did you set avast to do so: delete, move to Chest, etc.

What did you say avast to do?
Is the file in the same path (yet)?
If you run a full avast scanning, is it return clean?

I said delete…in the middle on scan, will let you know the results

In the future is it better to put in chest or delete?

Send to Chest is the first and safer option always. You can further investigate the file (avoid false positives), restore, scan again, etc.
