What Operating system, and is it 32 or 64 bit?
What version of avast i.e. 2014.?.?.??? and is it the free version or one of the pay for versions?
What browser are you using to access your router?
Is the connection to your router via ethernet, or is it via radio?
Do you have any other AV or security software installed on your PC that might have some conflict with Avast?

What have you tried so far:-
Have you tried with the browser AOS addons/extension disabled?
Have you tried turning off each of the shields individually?
Have you tried a repair?
Have you tried an uninstall, cleanup and complete clean install of Avast?

OK, Asusming you have carried out an uninstall, clean up with AvastClear.exe (in safe mode) and an installation of the latest 2014.9.0.2011 version of Free avast can you:-

  1. Make sure your firefox is up to date (Firefox 26)
  2. From within Firefox disable the AOS extension (Tools->Add Ons->Extensions)
  3. Exit Firefox
  4. From the Avast GUI, turn off just the Web Shield (GUI->Settings->Active Protection. Set Webshield to OFF
  5. Exit the avast GUI
  6. Reboot
  7. Open Firefox and try to access your router.

Post back and let me know whether that works and we can then take it further.
