[2283] Lithuanian GUI errors not related to translation

Just jumped in into BETA train. Here I will try to report any errors in Lithuanian GUI not related to translation things as I see some.

First localized GUI problem (Lithuanian). Screenshot is attached.

Second one is in the so called statistics page. The translation is correct, but quite long so one word is cut apart.

I don’t think we need a quotation marks in the name of the product. There is no quotation marks in English one ;D

Edit: or in the Settings page. Additional screenshot is attached.

Thanks YLAP,
I fixed the „Avast Premier". Regarding the other 2 could you please suggest some shorter translations?

Problem with many languages is that sometimes shorter translations just aren’t possible. I know my language sometimes also has really stupendously long words to describe computer terms because there just aren’t any real dedicated ones like in English language. This should be in general planned ahead of time when designing interfaces, especially when programs are as global as avast! and have huge amount of translations available. Such problems will always appear sooner or later if not planned ahead to give translators enough GUI space to work with translations.

Actually I have

Try to shorten first word in Software Updater to > Progr. įrangos atnaujinimo priemonė

Replace “Blokuoti grėsmingi elementai” with “Blokuotos grėsmės” It a slightly different translation but the meaning is the same.

Custom scans is a complete mix of English and Lithuanian ;D

My suggestions:

  1. tikrinimas
  2. Aplankų tikrinimas
  3. Tikrinti pasirinktus aplankus
  4. Kompiuterio patikra įkelties metu

Game mode settings page

Game Mode main page. This one is not translated, but as far as it is a short sentence in the main interface, I will offer a translation. This was not the idea of this topic I started, but I will do an exception for this

Nesijaudinkite, žaidimai sąrašę atsiras automatiškai kai juos žaisite.
Arba galite įtraukti juos rankiniu būdu.

I’m not sure if the localization manager (Trevor Robinson) is accepting people to proofread Avast online.
I’m doing this for Portuguese, but I’m very very late… Not having much time due to my other activities.

So, I suggest that, at least, if you have access, you can comment (or change) these specific strings via internet.
Trevor should say what does he think about…

Thanks YLAP,

I made the changes you suggested except the Game mode and scans that hasn’t been completed in the latest beta, but will be complete in next beta.
