24 MB and 25 MB Size Updates

Maybe I’m wrong, but isn’t 24 MB for version 090516-0 and 25 MB for 090517-0 a bit hefty?

Somehow I don’t recall recent updates being that large. If I’ve got that wrong, please excuse me.

If not, are we going to be seeing such hefty packages from here on?

Where did you get those figures from?
Updated today, no indication that the update size was anything but normal, as it only took its normal few seconds. (Didn’t read the data, though.)
My connection wouldn’t normally let 25Mb through in a few seconds.

You are getting mixed up between a full VPS update at 24.29MB and incremental updates, the incremental auto update.

The page shows what the current VPS version number is and doesn’t mean that that VPS version is 24MB.

The incremental auto update for virus signatures is measured in KBs not MBs and that is one of the things I love about avast being a dial-up user.

Yep, that’s what happens when you’re up most of the night working two screens. I see I misread the ‘dot’ as a ‘comma’. Blew it twice, too. No third digit after/before the ‘dot’. Yep, blew that one big time, didn’t I?

Sorry about that.

Got your attention, eh? Really, though, sorry about that!

But it does remind me of the first time I ran into the European style of using the ‘comma’ for a ‘dot’. Or is it the ‘dot’ for a ‘comma’? I can’t remember now. I oughtta get some sleep.

I’m glad DavidR was able to clear that up for you. However, you don’t seem to be the first to get confused by it, so don’t apologize. It’s an innocent mistake.

Glad they could help you out though.
