3 files in registry do not clear out

I use CCleaner. When I do the registry cleaner 3 files from Avast do not seem to clear out? I suppose i should not be concerned but I will ask anyway. Even when updating/upgrading to ‘nitro’ the 3 files are still there. Maybe they are more important than CCleaner thinks?

Correct, most likely protected by avast self defence

If you want them removed turn off avast self defence and try again

I personally don’t allow Cclearer to mess with my Avast.

Snap, not even for old log files which normally aren’t normally protected by the self-defence module.

Avast does its own housekeeping and you can set the file size parameters for various log files. AvastUI > Settings > General scroll down to the ‘Maintenance’ section and expand it.

Hello northgeorgia,
thanks for reporting. These files belong to NG component which was removed in Nitro 12.1 release and indeed shouldn’t be left in system after update (that is different situation from Avast log files, which are protected and shouldn’t be deleted by third party software). Can you, please, provide us with steps to reproduce this state and more details about your configuration? Also, sending a SupportPackage would be definitely helpful! Thank you!

As information novakja,

I’ve seen it many times that when something is removed in a newer version of avast, at least remnants of what is removed remain on a system (folders/files/registry entries)
The same happens when components are removed.
In my opinion definitely something for avast to improve.

Just to name two things:
SafeZone (not the “new” SafeZone browser) was still installed although it was removed from avast.
SafeZone Browser removal leaves the folder, files and registry entries.

@Eddy: thanks for giving a heads up, is this consistently reproducible? Can you name some more examples other than SafeZone Browser?

I never installed the SafeZone browser as I was using the (free) avast business cloud version.
There are multiple posts/threads on this webboard about it.
Most are from right after avast rolled out the SafeZone Browser to the users of avast free (without any notification).

As for the (really old now) SafeZone, I saw it with every new version released after it was removed.
I can’t test things now as I have removed everything from avast from my systems.

I don’t know if it is still the case, but I remember the browser plug-ins where also still in their folder after de-selecting them through the control panel > programs > avast > change
They don’t do any harm, but people don’t like to see that if they have chosen not to install/removed the option.
People say “I removed them, so the files/registry entries for them should be gone”.

All right, thanks for the details.
