Is the drive “Recording Enabled”?
Open My Computer, right click on your CD:\ Drive, choose properties, select the “Recording” tab and make sure “Enable CD Recording on this Drive” is checked and click OK.

Could you run shellexview and if the option is in the list then tick it to activate http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

I think it might be best if I just do a repair to win xp…i have a couple of other issues with windows on this computer, so I think by doing the repair those will be fixed as well
