Hi,
I’ve installed version 4.6 of avast and I failed to use the auto update function. I think I read all the topics in this forum about auto update and proxy setting. 
I rechecked to proxy settings and they are correct. The connection test in the avast proxy section returns no error but still avast can’t update automatically. When I start a manual update it works every time. ???
Any ideas?

Have you checked if your firewall is allowing the updater to connect?
The manual updated works fine… and my firewall should ask me if a program would like to open a port. I tried also to deactivate my firewall but even without firewall auto update fails.
I tested it in another LAN without proxy and there the update works.
I would say that this is a problem of the proxy but there are about 100 people with are also using this proxy with several other programs and they don’t have this problem…
Roi, I use a local proxy and it works both for manual and automatic updates…
It does not seem to be a firewall issue… Which are your seetings of proxy into avast? Automatic detection or the specific one you have…?
