I just updated to avast 4.6 on 3 of my computers and now I am having trouble logging into a novell email account. After I enter usernam and password, it goes to the next page, loads the top banner and then stays that way until it comes up with the cannot connect message. If I disable the web sheild, everthing is fine. Tried adding the url to the exceptions for all, and in the exceptions for the web sheild, neither made a difference. Only way to get it to work is to stop(pause does not work either) the provider. Thanks for any info.
Which is your operational system? Which browser do you use?
If you change the browser (for Firefox, for instance), will it work?
I think it could be some settings of Internet Explorer… :
using XP home with SP2 and all latest updates.
IE 6.0.2900.2180… looks like the lateset
tried adding the url to a trusted zone that didn’t help.
Keep in mind that if I turn off web sheild all is good so there must be some conflict there(maybe with IE?). I have never used any other browser. Maybe it is time to broaden my horizens…

In that case check and ensure that your firewall allows access to ashWebSv.exe, but if you are able to browse other web pages this is unlikely to be the problem.
You could also update one of the PCs to the pre-release beta version and see if that helps.

atc20, this could be related to other issues than Web Sheild.

I loaded up the new beta version on my laptop and now I can login to the email website. thanks to all for their help.
