Can I ask please but does the 4.8 version look out for Malware when performing a complete scan, and should I include it to check all archive files?
avast is a full antimalware (antivirus, antitrojan, antispyware…) solution.
Your files will be scanned at the complete scan and, also, your archive files will be scanned if you set it so.

It is free, they say light and gives active protection and may be a useful replacement for Win98 users when Avast 4.8 support does eventually cease.

When I could not quickly see which Operating Systems were supported I googled something like panda cloud win98 and I believe I saw a win98 version.

Actually I have 3 systems and I traded my old XP Home system for the Win98SE system and some cash.
I don’t use the Win98SE system much but I would sell it if I could but there is not much call for computers where I live and I’m not going to throw it out.
I tried to use it as trade when I purchased my system that is now running Windows 7 but they would not give me anything for it as they said that they could not sell it without Vista and its not good enough to run Vista.

I’ve not had much luch with Avast catching Malware, I use Malwarebytes along with Avast when cleaning computers.
Install, update, Boot into safe mode and Scan.
I use Avast for resident protection, then once a week or so I do a scan with Malwarebytes.
