good even every one i would like to thank every one that tried to help me with 4.8 in the last few days i do appreciate the help. i think i am doing a little better with it now but i still have a few questons like the boot scan why do it when you start up your computer and why does it take so long to do the boot scan ? ??? in my profile i don’t see the opsions like some of you have ? ??? i am trying though so don’t give up on me yet.
The boot-time scan doesn’t run on every scan:
a. it runs once after you install avast (assuming you answered Yes to reboot and run it).
b. if you schedule a boot-time scan, it will run once on the next boot, but you would have to continue to schedule it for it to run again.
c because it takes a reasonable time it is scanning a lot of your files, that is why it doesn’t run on every boot.
Are you saying it runs every time ?
When your system boots, avast is started and it will scan files that are loaded so your system is protected from an early point. On my system that means about 150-200 files are scanned and my system still boots in under 1 minute.
No not every start but when I tell it to run it takes hours to run.
But does it finish ok?
Depending on how many files do you have and how many archives are among these files, 2-5 hours could be a time to expect, for instance…
Yea it will finished
So, seems everything is ok.
The boot-time scan report file is here: Avast4\DATA\report\aswBoot.txt
Only trouble I have now is I can’t put avars in my profile & can’t add birthday & can’t add other info
Do you mean into your avast profile?
Hmmm… there were problems with flags and now this… maybe they need to update the forum software…
Yes flags to
You should be able to do it now as the forum profile has a restriction to the advanced profile settings until the user has 20 posts (which you now have). This is to stop some drive by registrations to misuse the forums.
The Member Map function is available only for some of the themes (Babylon doesn’t have this feature), but I believe there is a problem with the display of flags (after a forum software update I believe) in the user info to the left of posts.
