+400 MB junk in ...\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\BrowserMetrics\

Yesterday I was cleaning junk storage on my laptop HDD and came across this folder with +400 MB of files …\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data\BrowserMetrics
Compressing everything resulted in only a 0.5 MB tiny archive, meaning most of it is just repetitive useless data. Each file is called BrowserMetrics and the file type is .PMA.

I’m unsure if these are related to Avast Browser(I never use it) or the Anti-malware suite, however Google-searching yields info about these files containing “usage statistics and crash reports”.

Why is Avast filling up my disk space with uncompressed junk data? Either compress or remove it if you don’t need it.

Hi, what do you mean by “junk storage”…? Could you provide the full path…!?

Vitdom spurred me to having a look myself.
The files in there look quite a mess.

Why 834 files labelled wal******** each 0kb in C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\AVAST Software

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\Browser\User Data here is 1.47GB
of which about 460MB is Bank Mode folder.

As this refers to ASB it should really be posted here:

Just checked it and I’ve 4 files there - all from today.

Can those 834 files be deleted ???

As they’re empty anyway, go ahead.
