5.0.462 Free AV Mail Shield problem

Hi, I’ve tried 3 different email clients now with the same effect.
Using SMTP server post.demon.co.uk, port 25, no encryption.
The mail shield decides to attempt to connect to port 465 and promptly fails due to no username or password.
The only way I can send email is to disable outbound scanning.
Any ideas? ???

I’m using Win 7 Home Premium 64 if that helps.

For Thunderbird
Go to Tools, Account Options.
In the left Account listing go to bottom for outgoing server.
Edit the default server and check Use Name and Password

For Outlook
Goto Tools, Email Accounts.
Go to View or change accounts.
Edit your account
Check Use Outgoing Authentication

For Outlook Express/Windows Mail
Go to Tools, Accounts
Edit the Account
Go to the Servers Tab
Check Use Outgoing Authentication

This will send your username and password properly when you send mail

Thanks coolsilver but there’s no authentication needed on that server and none set.
I’ve tried with TB2, Spicebird 0.7.1 and Live, all have the same problem.
5.0.462 appears to think it requires authentication though - screenshot attached.

I’ve deleted the SSL accounts from the Expert Settings but they reappear as soon as I try to send.

aaaargh!

Changed the port to 587 with authentication and it’s working although overkill for a direct link to my ISP.
Also configured Experts settings to match - screenshot attached.
I still don’t understand why 5.0.462 would override the settings I entered.

thanks
