Thanks,
Yeah, that idea would be to set SMTP encryption to NONE in your email client.
Thanks,
Still a no go–error is–none of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.??
Well, shut down outlook, go to mailshield advanced settings - ssl accounts - delete anything comcast- related out there and try again. If that doesn’t work, post the settings you have in outlook and avast (above) here.
With scan outbound on:
Avast SSL accounts comcast.net POP3 995 SSL
comcast.net SMTP 587 TLS
Outlook - Incoming server POP3 995
requires encrypted connection is selected
outgoing server SMTP 587
encryption type SSL -error- sever does not support encryption method try changing
None-error- cannot establish SSL
Auto-error- cannot establish SSL
TSL-error- cannot establish SSL
Turn off scan outbound and use TLS in client and Avast and all is fine ??
Thanks again,
Sigh. I already explicitely told you to disable ANY encryption in Outlook. Also set the ports to normal, not the encrypted ones.
gosmeyer, please listen to doktornotor…!!

The only way for ME to send is to turn off outbound scan. normal or encrypted on both ports and outlook, been there done that.
Sorry, thanks for your troubles- will screen shots help?
Sorry for my ignorance guys but I have tried to the best of my ability to follow ???
Well… last try:
Outlook:
POP3: 110/Encryption: None
SMTP: 25 or 587 shouldn’t matter/Encryption: None
Avast: Delete all current setting there.
Thanks so much for your time, all is well I know how frustrating it is trying to convey solid knowledge to a nube.
It works? Yay! Doktornotor opens a late night beer ;D
This one was hard-earned… Cheers…!!! ;D

this is on the latest version of avast home program and virus db as of May 13, 2010 21:12 EDT. I’m running Windows 7 ultimate, Outlook Professional Plus 2010 BETA version: 14.0.4536.1000 (32-bit)
No, you don’t.
outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (STMP) email server.
uncheck the box that says “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” in your email settings.
on both incoming and outgoing i have spa unchecked and still have this issue
