- Do you use a proxy?
- Isn’t WebShield scanning anything?

The web shield screen says module not running, any other suggestions?
I suggest an installation from the scratch:
- Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
- Download the latest avast! version and save it.
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
- Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
- Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
- Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
- Check and post the results.

Tried that Tech it worked until I shut down then when I booted back up the issue returned, however after a seperate laptop issue with the safely remove hardware function which forced me to force a power off it suddenly started working on next boot, I will monitor the system for a while before I start celebrating in case the issue returns, thankyou for your suggestions and help
Be sure your computer is clean (run full scanning and possibly with MBAM) also.

I am having an issue with the Version 5.0.545, it seems to stop running numerous times through out the day, meaning its left unprotected. I have to manually fix the problem, then within a couple hours it stops again. Has anyone had this problem or might know what is causing this ?

It will be good start your own thread as your problem could be unrelated to this one.
Maybe post more about your system: operational system, firewall, other security programs, is it clean (malware-free)?
Since program upgrade to v. 5.0.545, Avast FAILS. I reloaded and logged using my debuggers and I see prior to the last upgrade, Avast had consistency. After upgrade, Avast registered its own conflicts within the program and it no longer will function correctly. Officially, I don’t see where Avast sees this as a bug, but they are sure to lose customers over this one. Including me. >:( Hopefully they will soon realize they have a problem.
What is fails? Which is exactly the problem you’re seeing?

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then Signature: and put information about your system just like my signature about your system just like my signature so that the helpers can offer pertinent advice.
I’m new to Avast! & the forum. I know this is off-topic, but I’ve been looking for the answer as to how add a signature. When I go into “Modify Profile,” the only choice I have is “Account Related Settings,” which controls email, password, etc. I see the Signature block under Profile, but not any way to add my info. Is there a waiting period?
@ rocktman1
You need 20 or more posts to be able to modify your Profile and this is due to spammers and scammers posting bad stuff.
Be patient and 20 posts will come soon enough.
The issue has returned, can someone from Alwil please help locate this bug because I cant keep reinstalling every few days
ps some other topics featuring similar symptoms, this cant be a coincidence there must be a bug http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=60031.0
