5.1.889 Installer - Scanning your PC - Freeze

I am a computer technician and install Avast! Free many times a day. I have had 3 computers freeze during the installer when it says “Scanning your PC”.
Most of the time it installs OK, but on some computers, the “Scanning your PC” takes over 5 minutes and as soon as I click the start button the mouse will instantly freeze in place. I have to hard reboot the computer and then I get the “Welcome to Avast” message, all seems OK after that.

Here are some models it happened on:
Gateway MT6821 laptop Vista Home Prem SP2 32 bit (happened just after a clean OS install)
New just out of the box Acer laptop 57427-4097 Win 7 64 bit (ran norton removal tool first)
Gateway PC Win 7 (sorry I can’t remember the model #, I could ask for it if you really need it)

Hope this information helps you discover and fix the problem. I have the Gateway MT6821 laptop for 2 weeks in case you need me to find any log files.

Would you please be able to create a full memory dump at the moment the machine is frozen, and upload it to our FTP?

It seems the nature of this problem is intermittent. I have tried a few times on the Gateway MT6831 laptop and have not been able to duplicate it. I will keep uninstalling/installing and see if after a few times I can duplicate it again.

Hmm, those are the worst ones. :-\

Just had this same freeze on two more customer machines. One is Win7 64 bit, the other Vista 32 bit.
That makes about 6 different computers it happened on.
