I have Windows XP. I upgraded to the free 5.1.889 from version 4, and now I get this error when I try to open Outlook: ashOutXt.dll could not be installed or loaded. This is in addition to Drive A being scanned every time I open Firefox. Any fixes for these out there? Thanks.

I would uninstall using the avast uninstall utility http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility. Uninstall version 4.xx and 5.xx then perform a fresh installation of 5.1.889.
You could try a repair of Avast first by going to add/remove programs,avast,uninstall/change then scroll down to repair.
However if I were making the leap from 4.x to 5.1.889 I personally prefer a clean install.
