5 Essential Steps To PC Security

“Pretexting,” “Pharming” And Other Dangers
An excellent article and primer by Fred Langa can be found HERE

Hi Bob,

Very fine article there, summing up the essentials of prevention against malware. Good to present it to us once again.

In a nutshell it comes down to:

  • Rule one: keep all your software up to date and fully patched.

  • Rule two: know what you download onto your machine, if not this can cost you dearly.

  • Rule three: one ounce of multilayered protection weighs more than kilos of cleaning or re-installing later. To us it is a reminder of what we should be aware of, it is a pity the big masses are still largely unaware or at loss where security is concerned.

Nice article, Bob … informative and should be read by all computer newbies … as well as a few others who think they know. (I am not pointing a finger at anyone!)

Hello Bob,

this is the qoute from the article:

“Some of these steps may seem familiar; and that’s a good thing if they do, because it means you’re up to speed on the essentials. But even experts sometimes miss a step, so having a checklist or guide like this can be handy.

I’ve always talked that making of checklist (like a reminder) is the best thing to do in order to stop youself from forgeting the facts you are dealing with. Ohh, but no, most of the people in this filed are “professionals” and they don’t need such trivial annoyance!

Stick to the basics and they will stick out for you!

Thanks Bob, Zagor

The most important thing is to Keep your copy of Windows Up-to-date. viruses have a much less chance of infecting you if you have all the security updates
