5 providers/4 running???

When I move my mouse over the avance globe in my system tray it reads:

avast! Online-Acess Scanner: 5 provider(s) total, 4 running

What does this mean? And why do I not have the 5th provider?

Outlook\Exchange provider enables itself only when you’re using MS Outlook\Exchange. Others are active all the time.

Which provider isn’t running? Its likely it’s one you don’t need.

What OS do you use? What email program do you use?

Do you use IRC? Do you use Internet Messaging (IM)?

Without these answers we can’t begin to help.

When I started OE6, the message still reads… 4 running.

Not Outlook Express, but MS Outlook that comes with Office package.

Don’t use outlook… not even installed. Just use OE express…

You only need 4 of the providers running, Internet Mail (for OE6), Instant Messaging for messaging, P2P shield if you use file sharing (I forgot to ask) and Standard Shield for on-access protection.

You do not need Outlook\Exchange and can remove it, add remove programs, avast, click change/remove, select change. Then untick the Outlook/Exchange box, next until you are done and you won’t see it anymore.

Thanks…
