I have AIS2015 & have noticed that I have a link 564 karma next to Sign in. I don’t recall seeing this before but not sure if I’ve ever really looked. Anyway I am wondering what this means. When I click on it, I am directed to my account and “add this device to your account” What device is this & exactly what does all this mean.
So this has to do with Grimefighter which is apparently connected to Avast. I’m not sure where it is located but I guess it is there and running as I now have 584 files scanned or whatever it does as opposed to the 564 I started this thread with.
It may or may not be related to Grimefighter (something I have turned off anyway) but I would like also to know what this mysterious 564 karma is that appeared with the v15 update.
So why do I have this? I can’t find it in my AIS. I have read some of the queries on grimefighter on this forum and some say you pay for this service. Obviously if I have it, it installed itself as I did not pay for it. I can’t recall if I did a custom install or default but I guess I must have done default as I would not run this. How do I uninstall it.
“Interactive Security Software” is not something I as a business professional am interested in, want resources allocated too or am in support of.
IMHO Seems very young. ;D
It’s called building brand loyalty or something like that, not sure, as essexboy says, details are missing about what this is and what it is for. Advertising and customer loyalty, imo. Think it is a part of the community settings within avast. Maybe turn that off?
Mine were a mess, it took ages to update some of them - but there are many that I simply won’t get - I recommend avast, but I don’t use the referral link, I just give then a regular download link or easier still a copy from my USB stick. I don’t expect to be rewarded for advising someone to use avast.
I don’t use the AOS add-on, for me it brings very little to the party when you have the excellent web shield.
So many of these badges, (god I hate badges even in the boy scouts) so I just don’t go hunting them. This really isn’t something I want to see in an antivirus application.
I so agree…HONESTLY who the heck is calling the shots at Avast now ?
I can just see the hard core Avast developers cringe at all the gimmicks and bloatware that is forced on their real efforts.
Frankly, IHMO Avast continues to dilute their brand name with a more complex, more problematic, less stable releases, 3rd party support scams, etc. Guess they feel these KARMA points are going to make me feel all warm and fuzzy…I DON"T DO warm & fuzzy. >:(
