5748 Problems Found

Just ran a scan on my Samsung Galaxy S3 and Avast reported over 5,748 problems. All of them being the same thing “Invalid Context During Scan” and it was with EVERY app that’s on the phone. What is going on here?

Seems a very large number of users are getting this now. Looks like a bad update of the virus definitions, is my guess.

Hi,

that is exactly what happened. We stopped distributing the affected virus definitions and are already working on releasing a fixed version.

Filip

Thanks. Perhaps revert to the previous one in the meantime, otherwise you’ll get a lot more confused users

We did, but we can’t revert those who already updated

Filip

Can’t you just change the version number so it will roll out again even to those who updated?

Yep, that is what we are doing right know, but the build, distribution etc takes some time to complete.

Filip

Thanks for the clarification! Brand new droid and after the news about a Trojan horse last week, I thought I’d been infected. Glad it’s just a software problem.

Hi,

I think the update is out. Can you try it?

Filip

Says current version is 130129-02

Is this the new one?

Yep, that is correct. You need to initiate a rescan though to get rid of the problems.

Filip

Scanning now. Will let you know of any issues.

Thanks

Mine says Current Version: unknown

If I try to manually update, I get: The downloaded virus definitions were invalid. Please, try again later.

App scan reported no problems
SD Card scan reported no problems

Looks like ya got it fixed. Thanks for gettin on this so quick. Glad I downloaded Avast! For real.

Yep .02 version “fixes” this.

Bobsal, it probably didn’t get to your fastest update server yet. Try again in a few minutes, please, should be fine. Thanks.

garfield1211, glad to hear it’s working

I got the same problem from 13.00 pm and still nothing no virus definitions updates.

Hi,

could you try to update your app from Google Play? I released a new version an hour ago. After updating and running a scan, all the problems should disappear (you might need to wait a little bit before running the scan so all the changes I made get applied correctly).
