6.0.1289 Has Slowed My Box to a Crawl

I had a previous version that would not uninstall. I used the Avast cleaner to remove it, I think. It showed that some items had been removed and the install of the latest version completed. Boots have taken forever, but are getting faster with each. But still the computer is unusable do to its speed.

How can I tell all of the versions of Avast for the cleaner to remove?

Any suggestions for solving the speed issue?

Hi,

In aswclear.exe, you have the dropdown list to select the correct version of the avast!software to remove. Please make sure that you dont have any other security softwares installed in the machine.

MSE

I just uninstalled again with aswclear and did both versions 5 and 6 just in case. The only other security software installed is MSE.

I can’t decide if I’m going to go through another install or not.

Having MSE and avast together is going to impact on system performance.

Having two resident anti-virus scanners installed is one too many and not recommended as rather than provide twice the protection it can cause conflicts that could leave you more vulnerable.

Let me do some clean-up and try it again.
