7005 Error Message

I’ve searched the forum and I encounter some topics for this issue, none of the solutions seem to help me.

About 40 to 45 minutes into a scan it will error out with a 7005 error message.

I uninstall and reinstall Avast twice from two different installers.

The machine is running several VMs, which makes me wonder if that might be the issue.
Anyone else have this issue?

Most probably one of your files crashes the scan engine, look for crashreports of “com.avast.daemon” in Console. If so, and you can locate the exact file that causes the crash, we would be interrested to see it. If the file can not be located from the crashreport, do a command line scan with output to a file:

scan -a / > /tmp/scan.log

which will show you the last succesfully scanned file before the crash (as the last entry). You may then try to scan the next file in the directory, which should be the one crashing the engine and send it to my mail.

Thanks for the help!

The scan log is too big to upload. I did attach the crash log from the GUI scan.

It literally just cuts off…

After I did (scan -a / > /tmp/scan.log), Avast refuses to run a custom scan of items around the directory. I quit Avast and the application refuse to reopen.

Looks like some file in

/Users/agraeff/Desktop/Munki Installers/Install Package copy.scptd

crashes the engine.

To see what exact file it is, something like

find "/Users/agraeff/Desktop/Munki Installers/Install Package copy.scptd" -print -exec scan -a {} \;

will help - the last line should contain the file in question. According to the crash report, it should be some DMG file.
If you can locate it, please send it to my mail or upload it somewhere and post the link here.

Tumic the output for that scan is

Unless I’m missing something the scan worked fine? I did a Custom GUI scan on that folder and had no issues.

Ok, so it must be the directory, that is scanned after this directory. If you run the “single scan commands” on

/Users/agraeff/Desktop/Munki Installers/

does it crash somewhere in this directory?

Also appear to be okay…

I also did it on just the desktop folder - no issues. Everything passed with no crash.

Small Update. The error still occurs. But now the issue is occurring in a different directory located in the desktop folder.

The “com.avast.daemon” crash report does look the same in this case (i.e. the crash is again it “CHandlerDmg::UnpackFileBlocks”)?

Can you run the scans “per file”:

find "/Users/agraeff/Desktop" -type f -print -exec scan -a {} \;

so we can see the file where it crashes?

Sorry Tumic! We are starting our 4 days on 3 days off, so i was away from the machine.

Ran the

/Users/agraeff/Desktop" -type f -print -exec scan -a {} \

and encounter no issues.

So I figured it has been awhile…

I ran the scan again. This scan went longer. It took 3 hrs.

End of file error this time in my iTunes library.

iTunes.localized/.localized/pl.strings	[OK]
/Users/agraeff/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes.localized/.localized/pt.strings	[OK]
/Users/agraeff/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes.localized/.localized/pt_PT.strings	[OK]
/Users/agraeff/Music/iTu
read(): unexpected end of file

While running

agraeff$ find "/Users/agraeff/Music" -print -exec scan -a {} \;
  • I’ve had zero errors

This would mean that the crash is dependent on some previous state of the engine. I will go through the DMG unpacker where it crashes and see if I can find something spurious, but without having your machine finding the bug will be pretty hard…

But maybe you could help me a little bit by posting here more of the “com.avast.daemon” crash logs, lets say 3 more of them. Thanks.

Tumic! You asked for it! ;D

I attached three more crash logs for you.

Small Update from previous post - ran the scan after Avast update to 11.2 (46528).

Still broken… I’m not looking to give tumic more to do… :smiley:

Small Update from previous post - ran the scan after Avast update to 11.14 (46696).

Scan ran for 5 h 46m 9 s and then 7005 error.
