Nope. When I had the free version I had “7 providers total, 6 running”, so I figgerd ta buy da missin’ piece. Not so, I’m still a day late and a provider short!

I’d say you are not using (full) MS Outlook, so it’s provider is not active.

The message “The provider is waiting on the subsystem to start” will be shown there until you open MS Outlook.
The plugin will be enabled automatically after that.

Been meaning to verify this as I don’t have Outlook , but do have Outlook Express. Would it be o.k. to turn off the Outlook / Exchange provider , seeing it doesn’t scan anything ? Any advantage in doing so ? The Internet Mail provider actively scans when I receive e-mail through Outlook Express .
Same question with the Network Shield . I’m not on a Network , the last attacks are dated 11.09.2005 there are 3 listed , which were " DCOM Exploit attacks " .
Basically wondering if there’s any Avast! performance advantages to turning off the Outlook / Exchange provider and Network Shield for the reasons above . Just curious , if these providers serve any purpose on my system ? Very interested If anyone has feedback , would be much appreciated .

With the pro version you have an additional Provider, the Script Blocking, so that is #8 and your Outlook/Exchange being disabled gives 8 providers, 7 running.

Like Abraxas, I don’t have Outlook, only Outlook Express. What’s the difference? For what little emailing I do I use the email on my MyWay homepage.

After upgrading to Pro I noticed the Script Blocking splash screen the first time I was forced to dirty my hands with Infernal Exploder. Why don’t I get the same splash screen when starting Firefox? I hope it supports FF. People on FF’s support forum suggest using the NoScript add-on, but about all I accomplished was to block my homepage.

Would you do me a favor and run over to PC Tools, and thank them for doing a wonderful job of ruining Spyware Doctor with this new, totally worthless Version 5. You could also mention that avast! doesn’t need any help in the anti-virus department. Thanks, Mate.

OE is a short, stripped version of the full Outlook (with Calendar, Dairy, etc.).

But NoScript free extension will do a great job and WebShield of avast will protect you (at any browser) 8)
