80000064.@/80000032.@ Trojan detected

Hello,

Avast found a Trojan on my brother’s laptop and placed it inside it’s chest. But he can’t delete them.

He’s tried running R-Kill followed by an Avast boot-time scan which found the infection but was unable to repair or delete the file.

He’s tried a system restore point and the computer restarted saying that it was unsuccessful as the Windows/Installer file was inaccessible (this was one of the files that was infected)

Tried system image recovery - disk with files on isn’t being recognised

Tried re-installing windows and it says no valid windows installation detected

Been trying to solve this for nearly a week.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

This needs further analysis by a malware removal specialist:

Hello and welcome to avast.

Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

================================

Step#1

Download ComboFix from here and save it to your Desktop.
If you are unsure how ComboFix works please read this guide carefully.
note: ComboFix must be downloaded to your Desktop.

Temporarily disable your AntiVirus program.
If you are unsure how to do this please read this or this Instruction.

How to disable avast:

Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and choose Open Avast! User Interface.

In the window that opens on the top right corner, click Settings.

In a new window that opens, choose the option Troubleshooting, Uncheck Enable avast! self-defense, and click OK.

Right-click on the avast! icon in the lower right corner of the screen and select avast! shield controls .

In the menu that appears, choose Disable Permanently. When you are prompted to turn off security, click Yes.

Note: Do not forget to turn on this option after the cleaning.

Run ComboFix. Click on I Agree!
ComboFix will check if there is a newer version of ComboFix available.
Click Yes if prompted to download.
ComboFix will display DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY ON SOFTWARE.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue.
If Recovery Console is not installed, ComboFix will offer download & installation.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to install Recovery Console.
Note:Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running.
If you see a message like “Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion” just restart computer once more.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a log report for you. (typical location: C:ComboFix.txt )
Attach log reports ( ComboFix.txt) back to topic.

Step#2

Please download aswMBR and save it to your desktop.

Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool.

Select Yes if prompted to download the Avast database.

Click Scan

Upon completion of the scan ( Scan finished successfully ) click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review.
Note: do NOT attempt any Fix yet.

Currently running a scan on infected machine using aswMBR.exe as instructed from earlier post. Have not yet posted log like others before as there is a limit to 4 attachments per post. Thought it’d be a good idea to get the first 4 up initially.

Would you advise continuing this scan and then posting log as initially advised from this topic: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

just follow magna86 instructions and he will clean you comp

In my original post I mentioned:

As it turned out I was being a bit of an idiot and tried to reinstal windows using a back up repair disk rather than an installation disk (which did not come with his Sony Vaio laptop).

For now I am continuing with instructions set by magna86.

Please find attached ComboFix Log.

About to start aswMBR.exe scan.

Just to inform you of where we are right now, Windows Firewall is operating as normal again and Avast is no longer screaming about threats that it has located.

Log file from aswMBR.exe will follow as soon as possible.

Please find attached log file from aswMBR.exe scan.
Multiple Antivirus Programs

You are running more than 1 Antivirus program!

AV: avast! Antivirus Enabled/Updated
AV: StopSign® Antivirus Disabled/Updated

Running - more than one - antivirus program is not recommended because:

They can conflict with each other.

Report the other antivirus software as malicious.

Antivirus programs use an enormous amount of computer’s resources… actively scanning your computer.

Can cause your computer to become unstable…run slowly and even, in rare cases, BSOD crash…etc
I strongly suggest you uninstall one of them.

I suggest to remove StopSign® Antivirus

 • Disable avast antivirus

 • Open notepad and copy/paste the text present inside the code box below:

FileLook::
c:\windows\system32\services.exe

ClearJavaCache::

KillAll::

Folder::
c:\windows\Installer\{a8a5b1d6-78e6-e04b-31ee-f6e1be3be366}

Save this as CFScript.txt

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above.

Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will will re-run. When finished, it will produce a log for you.
Attach the contents of the log in your next reply. (typical location: C:ComboFix.txt )

Uninstalled StopSign® Antivirus.

Disabled avast antivirus.

Created CFScript.txt and ran with ComboFix.exe as instructed; but part way through the .exe the laptop screen suddenly went black and the laptop shutdown instantly.

Is this supposed to happen?

Laptop has since been turned back on. Should I re-attempt running the scan using CFScript.txt?

Combofix did not cause that error. That is related for video driver or PSU (power/hardware). Probably nothing serious.

Delete old Combofix and download new&fresh one from here:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Re-run Combofix via CFScript.

Please find attached latest ComboFix Scan Log.

How’s your computer running now?

Running much better now thank you so much.

Just a few last questions please:

He was wondering if he should delete all the contents found and locked away in the Avast Virus Chest?

Also should he delete the files and logs he downloaded during the course of this thread? They’re sitting on his desktop and he likes to keep it organised lol

And which programs should he hold on to? He’ll be keeping Avast but using the free service.

Once again, thanks so much for your help.

Hi,

He was wondering if he should delete all the contents found and locked away in the Avast Virus Chest?
If he wants so, yes. :)
Also should he delete the files and logs he downloaded during the course of this thread? They're sitting on his desktop and he likes to keep it organised lol

It is necessary to uninstall ComboFix :

Click Start (or
http://amf.mycity.rs/pg/images/VistaStartButton.png
) then Run.

On Windows7 or Vista you may use Start Search field if Run is not available.

In the line of text type in (Copy) the following:

ComboFix /Uninstall

Note that there is a space between " ComboFix " and " /Uninstall " .

then click OK (or press Enter ).

Wait for the uninstall process is complete.

Re-run OTL and click on CleanUp! button.

You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the cleanup process, choose Yes.
After the reboot all the tools we used should be gone.
Note: Some more recently created tools may not yet be removed by OTL. Feel free to manually delete any tools it leaves behind.

And which programs should he hold on to? He'll be keeping Avast but using the free service.

I recommended to keep Malwarebytes and to use MCShield if you will.
You may download MCShield from one of the following links:

MyCity - Official download link
Softpedija - Mirror download link

It will prevent infection by computer via USB flash drive, mobile phone or any other memory card.
And not only will prevent infection, but it will immediately clean flash drive, memory card or external HDD.

When done, download and install all the recommended updates.
This will help ensure the malware writers cannot use exploits(bugs) in older versions of your applications to infect your computer in the future.

Once again, thanks so much for your help.

I’m glad I could help. Be safe…
