Silly me, I clicked the link that a contact sent me on msn. :-\ It was kinda relative to a topic we were talking about so’s I clicked. Anyways, then the program copied and sent the same message and link to all my contacts that were online and now I’ve got this stinkin’ 888bar on my internet window. I’ve scanned with Ad-Aware SE and Avast but I dont think its catching it? Ive also tried removing it from Add/Remove Programs but it just comes back again. Then I tried deleting the files from the folder they’re in but I cant because it says ‘access denied’ when I try to deelte the file that contains the actual toolbar (I think). I was wondering if there’s a way to get rid of this toolbar without having to download a whole bunch of other programs? I’d like to keep the number of new programs I have to d/l to rid myself of this toolbar to a minimum. I was on some other sites where people were getting help for this problem and they had to download like 3-4 more programs to get rid of it. Resilient lil bugger, innit? Thanks for any help…at the very least, I learned a lesson

Hello
I used these instructions:
The Hijackthis Uninstall Manager allows you to manage the entries found in your control panel’s Add/Remove Programs list.
When cleaning malware from a machine entries in the Add/Remove Programs list invariably get left behind.
We will use Uninstall Manager to remove Toolbar 888 entry from your uninstall list.
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
Start HijackThis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
To delete it, simply click on the Toolbar 888 you would like to remove and then click on the Delete this entry button.
But its not on the list there. However, if I check out the Add/Remove programs list from the Control Panel, it shows up there (just not on HijackThis). Hmmm…How do I get a hold of it somehow? Btw, if I get rid of this file, this will put an end to the automatic message-sending to my contacts too, right?
edit- This is probably because I tried to remove it this way before…the last time it tried, it said there was an error in trying to remove it b/c it may have already been uninstalled and it asked if I wanted to remove it from the list so’s I clicked okay. On the list, it doesnt have its file size listed like it does for all the other programs.
