A bit of a lesson about maticwallet.com

Hey guys, figured i’d ask about something I ran into quite some time ago. Was doing a casual check through the list of resmon and noticed something a bit out of place. Often these things are just timing, but google didn’t even provide any information about this. I’ve attached a cropped screenshot, and it shows AvastSvc.exe with a PID of 2552, and a description of: “maticwallet.com”. It’s been a while, but I think that was under: “Network Activity”, or “Processes with Network Activity”.

Edit: May have forgot to add the attachment, my mistake. Should be added now.

There is no attached screenshot.

Should be attached now, my mistake.

Well AvastSvc.exe is the main avast service which controls the various scanning engines

What OS are you using where this is displayed ?
What program/function are you using to get this information ?

I don’t see this on either my win10 or winXP systems, just using the Task Manager function.

Using Windows 10. Fairly certain it was under resource monitor, likely in network activity as mentioned. I don’t know what event occurred to cause this, as it isn’t easily repeatable as far as i’m aware. That’s why I was wondering if someone from Avast could explain why such a description was in one of their processes. Just seemed a bit out of place at the time, especially the description.

If it is a description in the resource monitor, Overview > Network, I would have thought that the description would relate to what it is doing/scanning/activity and not the file name description name.

I can’t find anything like that on my win10 64bit laptop.

I have some entries, see attached, but nothing like your very cropped image.
