A 'Blocked Application' - How To Register with Security Settings???

Hello all

Have looked ‘how to do this’ - but couldn’t find anything (probably just didn’t know what question to put into ‘Search’)

When a pop-up shows “Application Blocked By Security Settings” - where in AVAST is/are the screen/screens to register the URL, etc., so it will pass the Firewall (or whatever s
‘security setting’ is blocking the desired program from installing).

In this instance the site wants to install an ‘applet’ (interactive game site www.chessproblems.com) so the user can log on and use the site.

Thanks in advance for any help posted

I have a similar issue and cannot find an answer, although it appears to be a well known issue. The response is often to turn off Avast protection, which defeats the point in having it in the first place?

Could you post a screenshot of the popup please

Not to be unresponsive to your request for a screen shot - but a screen shot of the pop-up says exactly what I related - that the attempted installation of something (an applet in this case) from the site I was attempting to use was ‘blocked by security settings’.

So - no longer have that pop-up showing - but that’s what a screen shot would show it was advising.

My question remains - other programs have a feature that allows for a URL, etc., to be “Added” so that it is no longer “blocked” - I just can’t find anything resembling that arrangement in AVAST. I don’t doubt its there SOMEWHERE - I just can’t find it.

All help appreciated :-\

You can report that site to Avast. Once determined that it isn’t dangerous, Avast will stop blocking it.

Thank you for that suggestion.

Surprised however that such a ‘work around’ (reporting the site in question that is being blocked by ‘security settings’) to AVAST is necessary given that most other programs have the feature of simply ‘adding’ a URL to the “Allowed” list so as to remove it from being blocked.

It would seem that the simplest way for AVAST to deal with this - is to have a pop-up generated that asks if the user wants to allow the program to be unblocked - and upon receiving an affirmative response - change the ‘security settings’ automatically ending the blocking of the program.

It is just that Avast, as far as I can recall does not have a popup with that wording. However windows does, hence the request for a screenshot
