I signed up so that I could ask a few questions. One in particular has been annoying me for about 3 days now. Here is the first one:
- Will Avast 6.0 be the final one? Will they move on to another one? Perhaps a 7.0 one?
- I have noticed that Avast 6.0 is incapable of blocking exploit attacks. Why is that? About 3 times over the past few days it has informed me that it has blocked an exploit, but after it says that my firewall appears and tells me that I need to clean my computer. I use Comodo Firewall, and it has HIPS (Host Based Intrusion Prevention System). It calls this HIPS “Defense+”. Somehow these exploits make there way past avast, and then my firewall’s defense+ has to stop it from executing. So far these two programs have saved me. Avast 6.0 has done a great job with everything else, but for some reason it cannot stop these exploit Trojans. These Trojans are recognized as “JS:Pdfka-gen [Expl]”. Why does my firewall have to stop it from executing? Avast can detect it, but it does not seem to be able to stop it even though it says that it already has.
