A false alarm

Yesterday I installed avast! free for the first time. I have been using the following freeware for years, it is completely safe, but avast! is giving a false alarm.

You can report a possible FP here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php

Done as you said above, thanks!
Have you clicked on the URL in my post above? What does “FP” stand for? English is not my first language.

  1. You’re welcome.
  2. FP=False Positive

Dear Asyn,
I heard that Microsoft’s security support for Windows XP will end, are you confident that avast! can protect your XP SP3?

Dear Pondus,
Thanks for your information.

Pondus, did you disable your avast before downloading the file from the URL in my post above?

I am sure that avast is more reliable than Microsoft, that’s why I have gone over to the former.

dont have avast on this computer…

Hi all,
This was indeed a false positive and should be fixed in the next update (in around 2 or 3 hours).
Also, thanks to Asyn for pointing out the correct way to report a FP:-)!

NP Honza.

I confirm that the false positive has disappeared on my computer.
I am surprised at my being the only one who is using the software in question among 200 million avast users.
