I have Avast 4.8 free and Superantispyware for now. I installed Vista Sp1 as well. My Computer says it has 11.2 GB Free out of 29.2 GB…Is that too low? I can try to uninstall programs if you guys think thats too low of a space…Matt
I don’t think that you need to uninstall programs… You’re letting almost 40% of your disk free.
I won’t worry. Of course, if you can get a bigger disk, 30Gb is very very small nowadays…
Actually im going to reinstall and get a clean slate…now it says 9.85 gb free and honestly, id rather have a clean slate and start fresh then worry:)
When you get to 75-80% full you should be considering a new larger HDD or increase partition size if you had partitioned your HDD.
There are tasks that will have problems like defragging your HDD which most will say you need at least 15% free space to be able to move the data around.
One of the biggest HDD space hogs is system restore that takes up a percentage of your HDD space and it can grow huge, I have seen peoples’ systems where it is 1.5GB or more. So you can restrict the size to a smaller percentage.
Just look at how big the System Volume Information folders are, this is where system restore keeps the restore point data ?
