A Newby question

In my virus chest I find 3 system files

  1. command.com C:

2)kernal32.dll C:windows\system

3)wsock32.dll C:windows\system

Are these files infected? If so how does one go about repairing these?

If they are not infected is it correct for the avast program to put them in the virus chest?

Also after a thorough scan I found 984 files that Avast could not scan. I believe that they are in Spybots and Adaware quarantine .
Am I correct?

After the scan the Avast reported 0 virus so I feel pretty safe . The 3 sys. files I found today but they were placed in the chest 11/30/04.
Any info anyone would share with me would be appreciated
Ron

ok, my bad . I read a little further and have found that these are back ups .

NOTE TO SELF: Read More, ask intelligent questions :-[

And if you look closely at the chest, you will see that they are NOT in the virus chest.
The chest has several sections, one of them is the virus chest and those files are not there

Yes that is right Eddy. I have been reading the Help files on the Avast home edition and it is quite informative.
