The club had 227 members at this meeting.
I’m currently staying with my Nephew who is a member of this club.
He lives about 1/2 hr south of Sarasota.
Todays avast! Security Seminar for the Deerfield Beach Computer Club
You guessed it, they meet in Deerfield Beach Florida was again a lot of fun.
On the way back, going through the Florida everglades, I might have made a friend
but didn’t have the courage to get up close and personal as I do with the people attending
the seminar:

Nice place Bob.
Reminds me of when I received education on the first IBM PC when it was in Boca Raton Fla. 8)
I bet the weather there is a lot better than here.
The weather has been great. A little cool at night which is good for sleeping.
I haven’t had to wear anything except a short sleeve shirt since I got here back on March 20th.
Today I’m setting out on a little adventure. My secretary, form when I was still working in the bank,
from over 30 years ago lives about 1/2 hr. from where I’m currently staying.
We’ve kept in touch all these years but only through snail mail since she can’t use the telephone and,
doesn’t use a computer. (She’s got a severe hearing problem.)
Since I’m this close and may never get another chance, (We’re both not getting any younger ;D )
I’m simply going to go to her house and knock on the door. (Might even ring the bell if there is one.)
Hope she’s got a strong heart, we’ve both change a bit over the past 30+ years since I last saw her.
Wish us both luck.
Well my last adventure was a great success.
Marylin and I spent almost 8 hours reminiscing about the good old days.
We’ve already made arrangement for a return visit and this time I’ll bring Alice with me.
My Florida trip is now over. I visited 12 clubs and saw a total of 810 potential new customers.
That figure might be just a little overstated since there where a few avast! users in the crowds.
Even though I’m back home, there are still a few that I’m working with to complete a successful conversion
to avast!6. This morning I received an email from one of these new converts and I’d like to
enclose the following excerpt for her email:
“I want to thank you as well for all your patience the past 4 days.
I can now go to my friend and tell her what to do. Your presentation at SPCUG was so impressive that I was anxious to get AVAST one way or another. Thank you again so much and I will keep in touch…Judy”
This was a happy final outcome after struggling for 4 days and all because Norton wasn’t properly removed.
Once I realized that the instructions I had sent weren’t totally followed, the correction was fairly simple.
It’s always nice when someone who isn’t tech savvy is still able to convert successfully with just a
little help and some patience. Something many of us on here do all the time.
Thank you Judy for the thank you it’s something that’s always greatly appreciated.
