It’s a chinese version of avast
the updater shows that the VPS file is the newest.(Jan 18)
but the main program shows that the VPS file is Jan 15.
Can anyone tell me what cause this problem?

The problem with the virus database seems to be it is somehow corrupted and this is shown by the MD5. I'm not sure. I need help from the programmers.
The MD5 check shows that it completed successfully and not that there was a problem with it. The windows error 0 (0x00000000), not really an error in this case = The operation completed successfully.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
Thai has been know to clear this versions inconsistency in the program.
