A program not working after Avast software update

On Monday night i did the latest Avast update, scanned my computer. The next day i was at work and found that a program that i need for work now wont open. the start up logo for this program will come up then disappear a few seconds later. i ended up doing a system restore, my program worked again. after i reactivated Avast tonight as it lost the subscription details in the restore, the program now doesn’t work again. i am a TAFE teacher and the program i need to work is called LOCO it’s a assessment writing tool that allows me to simply write assessments to upload to a moodle site.

i don’t know how to start investigating a resolution to this problem. any advice please

Paul

Just to add i just had another play with the computer and tried to install the LOCO program stand alone didn’t help.

as well now internet explorer wont open either (needed for some DET website apps).

frustrating.

can anyone help please

Paul

I just did an experiment,

I turned the Avast Shields off one by one and found that the program i need will operate when the Web Shield is off.
now i need to figure out how to make an exception for that program. There is a box for URL exceptions and MIME exclusions and there is also one for processes but i have know idea what text I need to put in and where.

Any ideas?

Paul

The full path of the program that you want to exclude.
Example: C:\Users\Bob\Downloads\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe
Hope that helps.
