A Site Remembers Cookies in Firefox But Not IE Following Reboot?

Any ideas as to what could account for this behavior? The site in question is the Flex MLS Real Estate site. Even the log in screens for IE and Firefox are very different. I run IE 8 and Firefox 3.5.7 on Windows XP (SP-3) With Avast AV of course! (Version 5) This issue has been like this for the past year. I do not recall if it happened before this or not.

Try checking your setting for IE8 in Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Tab.

Have you set IE8 for Compatability View on Flex MLS Real Estate site?

Compatibility View

Internet Explorer 8 is a new release and some websites may not yet be ready for the new browser. Click the Compatibility View toolbar button to display the website as viewed in Internet Explorer 7, which will correct display problems like misaligned text, images, or text boxes. This option is on a per site basis and all other sites will continue to display with Internet Explorer 8 functionality. When you click on the Compatibility View button for a site, you don’t need to do it again as the next time you visit that site the browser will show it in compatibility mode. If for some reason you’d like to go back to browsing with Internet Explorer 8 functionality on that site, simply click the Compatibility View button again.

Insure that IE8 has “Advance Privacy Settings” set to allow just “session cookies”:
1- Tools
2- Internet Options
3- Privacy
4- Advanced
5- Check- "Override automatic cookie handling
6- Check Accept for “First Party Cookies”
7- Check Block for “Third Party Cookies”
8- Check “always allow session cookies”

It was still doing that when I had IE 7. (need to log in to MLS on reboot) will try the steps on IE 8. If it doesn’t work, will just use Firefox at that site which works great.

Nope changed the settings, it did nothing on the site. Put them back to default. Auto Complete is also not recognized as a log in option at the site, so it seems to be a security related thing between Flex MLS and IE where corporate has it set up that way.

The Firefox log in screen like I said is totally different, so it must be the way the company wants it set up.
