Starting last night, after about 15 minutes that I have turned my computer on (not online though), Avast alerts me with a popup that a threat was detected…
I am having trouble with this application too. My windows updated like a couple of days ago. Now, every 5-30 minutes I get a popup warning me about WicaInventory.exe in the System32 folder. It seems that it is trying to open other applications at random.
I don’t know if I should just delete this file. The strange bit is that the message keeps popping up again and again. I thought that Avast would quarantine the file and prevent it from ever being executed again. However, this is not exactly what is happening here.
Wicainventory is installed as part of the "Recommended" Win7 update KB2952664
Microsoft’s Knowledge Base article for that update lists the files involved but does not say what it does, other than it is a “Compatibility update for upgrading Windows 7”
