How do you make sense of a senseless act? You can’t 
All you can do is pray for those affected.
All you can do is thank those that responded and helped.
All you can do is pray for unity.
The shooting that happened last night in Las Vegas was totally senseless and totally unpreventable.
Question is how a weapon could be used,
that even under the present US law cannot be acquired legally?

For once, keep politics out of a tragedy.
Then the tragedy shouldn’t be posted in an anti-virus forum : much of the blame for the tragedy lies with US political decisions.

Rubbish, and that’s the thought pattern why the US has so many shootings :
Gun control makes it a lot bloody harder for the lunatics believe me, we’ve had gun control here for a long time now and bar a few instances with biker gangs it’s a much safer place to be.
The problem here is that this person, who committed this heinous act, wasn’t a lunatic.
He was a highly intelligent multi millionaire who wasn’t on any law enforcement watch list.
The post was made to offer condolences to those that suffered a terrible loss. Nothing more, nothing less.
I understand that Bob, everybody is shocked by the situation but that doesn’t change the fact that gun laws could have prevented the incident.

The tragedy is through a misplaced topic (should be in the General forum) this has degenerated and become even more off-topic. The best course of action would have been to request moving it to the General forum and then continue there. Now moving it could be a bit pointless, creation of the topic in the General forum would bypass the off-topic comments.

But in the general forums it is not fitting in as well, as it is totally unrelated to what is these forums are normally about. 
or would you like to qualify it under the realm of Happy New Year, Happy Thanksgiving, etc.?
We do not have a section for breaking world-shocking lunatic shooting incidents from a dystopian USA.
That is why one has facebook, twitter, whatsapp etc. Let’s keep it that way.

The General forum hasn’t been a General forum since the loss of the ‘off topic’ forum many years ago. Since then the General forum as had a degree of latitude since then.
You just have to look at the topics to see that the description of the General forum ‘anything and everything about this board’ has drifted so far as to be unrecognisable.
Not everyone on this Forum want’s to read about doom and gloom in the cyber security world.
Sometimes there is other doom and gloom news to report about.

I like to read better news, like about the recent 4% economic growth in Poland,
better jobs, better earnings, success.
What are the workers in your country doing that were once building proud cadillac sedans,
they really have reason for doom and a gloom still round the corner,
and then more shock and awe to rock their minds.
That’s the real tragedy here.
