A virus from a Hulu Commercial?

I was watching a video from Hulu, and I must have accidentally clicked on a advertisement from “Progresso”. I looked up at my tabs and there was 3 that said “Progresso”. I just canceled them out.

But after I got done watching the video from Hulu, I updated my MBAM and then did a quick scan. Here’s my results:

I seen something at the bottom of my internet screen say “Adware.ALOT” as well. (Where it tells you the URL’s when you hover your cursor over a link and where it says “Done” when a website finishes loading)

I’m not really worried about this, but how can I be sure that this is really removed?
Should I do a Thorough scan do make sure I don’t have anymore viruses?

Can you really get a virus from a Hulu commercial? Because I seen the “Adware.ALOT” on the bottom of my internet screen right before the commercial loaded (As in, before the commercial showed up on the video screen).

Or maybe I just found out that I had a virus because I updated MBAM? Is that possible?
What does “Updating” MBAM and Avast really do?
Thanks in advance.

What does "Updating" MBAM and Avast really do?
Some info: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000533.htm

Thank you that’s what I thought they did.
It seems that every time I update MBAM it updates me to the most recent update, even if I missed a few Updates, is that correct?
Does Avast do that too?
Thanks.

Yes.... ;) ...and always run update before you scan
Does Avast do that too?
yes, automatically, you should see a popup when it happens, and hear it if you have the sound on Recomended downloads http://www.avast.com/download-documentation and also look in the help files in avast

If you scan with avast and MBAM now, do they come up clean? do you have any problems?

Thanks for the info, and yes, both Avast (Though I haven’t scanned with it for a few days) and MBAM has came up clean, no viruses/malware on my computer. But the “Hulu Virus” (I’m not sure if it even came from there, but I’m 85% sure it did) was on my Family’s Computer. But I updated MBAM on my Family’s Computer and then used a Quick Scan with MBAM and it came up clean too.

Thanks.
