Pruusst! LOL
False alarm. Avast identifies its own Signature updatefiles as a Virus!
Nothing to worry about. I think one Avast guy will answer soon.
“DAME” is an old(realy old) Virusconstructor(Mutation Engine if i remember correctly)
haha…lol
;D ;D ;D
Same thing here. Had to turn resident scanning off to get latest update file. System scans clean after updating.
ROFL ;D ;D ;D ;D
??? ???
my resident scanning is set to high…but it didn’t prompt me about it when avast downloaded the latest update automatically…
i get to know only after i done a through scan…
Sorry, it mean Rolling on the floor laughing.
You can use it when you think somethings very funny.

shgoh: Omik:ROFL ;D ;D ;D ;D

hahaha…got it!!!
cheers…ROFL!!! ;D ;D
Very funny, indeed… ;D
Given the probability of such a phenomenon, I’d rather call it a miracle.
(maybe the End Of Days is coming…? ;D)
Vlk
I'd rather call it a miracle.I second that - this DAME polymorphic definition is inside the avast! for about ten years and never caused a false alarm...
Anyway, we will release the new update in several minutes - with thes FA removed and with new Win32:Holar variant added - it seems to spread very fast in the near future!

oh…i moved this file to the virus chest!!!..does it matter?..please kindly advice…
It does not matter. Or just re-run virus database update, to be sure…
Shouldn’t really be a problem.
Sorry for that,
Vlk

thanks vlk…i have updated to the latest virus definitions…so can i delete that file from the chest??
thanks again… ;D ;D
hi vlk…
by the way…i always have got some files which avast is unable to scan…due to zip archive is corrupted???..how it matters??..thanks vlk…
for example…
c:\MATLAB6p5\java\jarext\classes111.jar\oracle\gss\util\NLSCharacter.class
c:\Program Files\java\j2re1.4.2\lib\plugin.jar\META_INF\MANIFEST.MF
;D ;D
Sorry for the really old bump. I found the thread via a google search.

So this is a false alarm?
edit: scanning it a second time revealed nothing. The file changes dynamically, so it has to have been a fluke.
As a check to a possibly infected file you can upload the file in question to
either
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
or
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
In you case upload the C:\Program Files\WinMXsettings.dat file to be on the safe side.
I checked both and they both found nothing, so I guess it’s a hoax.

Is your virus database updated? Was it when avast detect that ‘hoax’?
If you scan it now, will avast show you a virus warning?
