I have got this problem. There´s a red circle on avast! a-ball icon in system tray and when I click on it, the error message appears saying “the AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error”.
I have tried to fix it, following the description on this page: http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=46&group=eng. Unfortunately that didn’t help. What do I do now?
As far as I can see, there is a problem initializing virus chest files. There is a error message. Translated from Danish it says:
“Program cannot use virus chest client: (null)
—>Description: The RPC server is too busy to complete this action”.
This is weird. After the fourth reboot of my pc Avast is running again and I am able to open the virus chest.
I would still like an answer to my question if this should happen again. Having to reboot several times is not a solution.
So what should I do if this problem reappears? Uninstall / reinstall?
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
