aavm4h.dll file missing?

Hi. I just installed avast on a client’s computer, ran it, and it found multiple instances of the klez virus. Upon reboot, windows gives an error message that it can’t find the aavm4h.dll library file. Where can I get it and do I have to reinstall avast???
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
Try doing a repair. Go to add/remove select avast! and then select repair.

Hi. There is no “repair” option in win98 in Add/Remove… Any other ideas? Is the dll downloadable from somewhere on the avast website??

Possibly here?

quick edit

You’ll have to bill the customer for it if you use the above link.

If you search the board for aavm4h.dll you will find some links (old and new ones) to it…
But, what Bob said is that if you click on Change/Remove on Control Panel you will receive a pop-up window with the Repair option… Well, at least, it should be there…

thanks, folks. I copied the link to the dll from one of the old posts, and downloaded it to my desktop to email to my client, but I’m not sure I can walk him through it via email. I’ll try one more time to get him to do the Add/Remove option. He claims there is no Repair button there. Can he do a repair from within the program itself? Seems like I saw a Repair button on an Avast screen, with an uninstall button too?
Thanks again.

start > control panel > add/remove > Avast > change/uninstall
There is the repair option.

Repair is the last item. You have to scroll down to see it.

Ok, my client was able to find the repair option, but still gets the “missing …dll file” error message, so I’m going to have him uninstall and reinstall the program. I don’t think I left the setup file on his computer (I downloaded it from my jumpdrive), so can he download avast from the website and still use his registration info from yesterday? Or will he have to register all over again?
Thanks!!

The same registration is fine.
