About Avast Pro License

Hi.

I’ve bought three-year license of Avast Pro for 1 PC. My question is that will my license be canceled if I enter the license key again after formatting my PC (or just when reinstalling Avast)? Or will it be canceled just in case it is detected that two (or more) PCs are using the same license key at the same time?

Thanks.

No. The license will be still valid after you format the computer and reinstall avast. Keep the license in a safe place.

Ok, reinstalling after format or just reinstalling will not bother me then, thanks for the reply, Tech.

What about the second -extra- question? ;D Don’t misunderstand me, I won’t install it on different PCs, actually it will be OK if I install it on a PC which has no internet connection and if I update it manually, but I won’t do this either, just curious about it. ;D

Tech’s answer, effectively answers both questions.

I don’t think so. And he quoted my first question to answer. Could you expand what you mean?

Well, you can’t use the same license in two different computers.

Ok, i asked that because i know some people who use the same key on different pcs, but nothing happened so far. So i just wondered if that situation can be detected. But in Kaspersky the key is blocked in such cases in a short time. I think Alwil should be more sensitive on this subject. :-X Anyway, thanks for your reply.

The important word in my post is ‘effectively’ as avast won’t see it as being on two computers as you aren’t using it on two computers, just one. If you had it on two computers then they would both need to be updated and there it could potentially be seen as being installed on two different computers at the same time.

Hmm, only the update processes are (potentially) effective on this case then. Thanks for clarifying, this is enough to enlighten all the illegal conspiracy theories in my mind. LOL

Thanks both of you again!

You’re welcome.

They are my thought as to when multiple copies using the same license could be detected, I don’t know what anti-piracy measures are in place or if that is the only one. I can think of other areas where it might be possible to detect, but I wouldn’t divulge these as that only gives information to those who might want to do this ;D

i see xD

I was avoiding to write what you’ve written.
You can do it. But you’re not allowed to do so.
I think the policy is to trust in people.

Yes, the situation can be detected… and when the time comes, it will be ;D

I have read all the posts here about the pro version. My question is that I have 3 operating systems on this computer. Would I have to purchase 3 different versions of Avast Pro? My other machine also has 3 operating systems, Norton 360 allows to be loaded onto 3 different computers which resides in one machine. Will Avast Pro allow 1 license for the 3 systems on one machine?
I have been using Avast Home many years and it has found things that Norton missed. Thanks, Al.

Igor, I’ve sent an email about this policy.

I think the policy is one key for each operational system in the same machine or even virtual machines.
Linux operational systems could use free avast also.
