This is a browser Hijack. You can start here http://www.pchell.com/support/aboutblank.shtml, a Google search for about:blank returns 341,000 hits, that was just one of them. Google is your friend learn how to use it.

If you haven’t already got this software, you should it’s freeware.

  1. Ad-Aware
  2. Spybot Search and Destroy
  3. Download HijackThis.zip

??? I also have been hit by this hijacker. None of the above listed spyware can find it. Hijack this can find it but removing it is not easy and if you miss anyone of its installed parts it reinstalls on next reboot or short time latter. I have download over eight different spyware programs found on google that or suppose to remove it and none have so far. Noadware has a hijack blocker but it isn’t very good. As it has a small window open in the bottom right side of your desktop that says about blank is trying to change your home page. ya! sure no kiding.
This little window pops up ever few secounds and no matter how many times you click no about blank still takes over you home page.
Everytime you do a manual uninstall of about blank it reloads and changes the name of one of it’s dll files. Which makes it almost impossible to do. NoAdware list 10 different versions on about blank and none of them or the one I have.
CWShredder needs to be ran from safemode but sense this little bug has took over my computer I can no longer boot to safemode evertime I try it starts to load safemode than reboots or I can hilight and say to boot to safemode but this brings up another page that says use arrow keys to pick click enter but the arrow keys don’t work.
I need to know the software or spyware program file that is installed on my computer that is the one that keeps reinstalling this virus. With out this one you will never get rid of it
with out doing a complete clean reinstall of my OS.

Hi, I also have a computer here with the same problem. At least… i had the same problem. I removed all SYMANTEC NORTON AV keys with Hijack this and changed
the startpage in INTERNET OPTIONS ( in CONTROL PANEL ) to something else after
rebooting first. I think it injects itself in a random startup file or process. Everything is working fine for quite some time now.

All malware is relatively easy to remove. There are just a few things to keep in mind.
