Not at all, I find PrivateFirewall one of the best ones to work with Avast. At the beginning you will find it intrusive only with software that are not digitally signed so I recomend to launch all your programs after installing it and give permission thru the firewall and above all to check the ones that you trust, after that you will see that it just does its work.
One of the things that I like from this Firewall is that it is always improving.
Check my signature, I have been using it for more than one year since I discovered it here in this froum without problems. I’m sure you will have a nice internet experience with it if you install it.
Yes, we had some conflict with pf. The GUI wouldn’t display properly and who knows what internally?
The reason I was told by avast staff : PF provides antimalware protection so there might be some conflict, if not implicit, and you may not use 2 resident antimalware stuff at once. Check the pf features: http://www.privacyware.com/personal_firewall.html
There might be people who are absolutely fine with PF. But you asked for conflict and I have experienced it.
If you wish to use privatefirewall you should uninstall avast’s behaviour shield as that is the only componant that causes some conflict between the two since both programs contain behavioural monitoring.
Your second link you added you say that you fixed the problem by following what was mentioned on the Wilders thread ??? im not sure what version i tried, your problem could have been with just that version of PF but there on 7.0.24 now i think so the issue you had could also be solved with the newer version.
